Launch on a Launch 2025!!

The Most Famous (we assume), Most Iconic (potentially), Preeminent (definitely) Boat Race in Canberra.

To Celebrate the start of Spring, each spring, Urban Rec unleashes Launch on a Launch – an event so legendary, it’s practically written into Canberra folklore (we assume).

Here’s how it works:

We put your crew in a GoBoat on Lake Burley Griffin.
We stock it with food & drinks.
You navigate the lake completing a series of challenges.
If you win, you claim epic prizes and the right to defend your crown next year.
If you lose, you still get the story, the laughter, and the memories. Everybody wins.

How to Get a Boat

There are only 10 boats in the RACE. You can’t buy one. You can only WIN it.

6 boats → Priority Registration this spring.
1 boat → Biggest Individual Red Nose Day donor (by Aug 28). Donate Here!
1 boat → Waitlist & register before Sept 10.
1 boat → We gave away at the Autumn fun points party at Capital Brewing.
1 boat → Last year’s champs, defending their title.

That’s it. 10 boats. 10 crews.

The Nitty Gritty

Each Boat holds max 8 people.
The Biggest Individual donation to Urban Rec Canberra’s Red Nose day fundraiser must be made online via our fundraising account with your name (so we can contact you). This will be announced on Friday August 29 and we will contact you.
To win 1 of 6 boats during priority registration you must pay a deposit or in full for any Spring league during priority registration between September 1-10. The 6 teams will be drawn via spin the weel on our Instagram page on September 19.
To win the boat for being on a waitlist & registering before September 10. Join a waitlist on our website and our league managers will contact you for next steps. The team will be drawn via spin the weel on our Instagram page on September 19.
Winners will be contacting via email and asked to RSVP by October 3. If teams can’t make it spots will be redrawn.
